Veterinary Nursing Awareness month is a yearly celebration in recognition of the skills and value registered veterinary nurses bring to animal health and welfare.
Under their job title as regulated professionals, Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs) work closely with our Veterinary surgeons to ensure that your pets are cared for in the best possible way.
Registered Veterinary Nurses have undertaken rigorous training and completed demanding examinations to achieve qualification and entry onto the Register of Veterinary Nurses held by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
On any given day, our RVNs may find themselves collecting and testing laboratory samples, taking X-rays, medicating patients in the hospital ward, monitoring anaesthetics, dressing wounds, assisting with surgical procedures and performing minor procedures such as suturing wounds and removing benign skin masses. The list goes on!

The following are examples of just a few:
- Preventative healthcare advice.
- 6 monthly Healthy Pet Club health checks.
- Pre and post-operative checks.
- Help with Chronic disease management such as Osteoarthritis, Diabetes, Kidney disease, skin disease & more.
- Nutritional advice.
- Wound management.
- 2nd & 3rd Vaccines.
Some RVNs undertake specialist training in a range of topics, especially the care of exotic pets, feline medicine, anaesthesia, emergency and critical care, wound management and dentistry.
